National Contemporary Art Museum in Riga

Riga, capital of Latvia, one of the oldest cities of the Baltic States recognized as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site for its medieval and Art Nouveau buildings, has decided to widen its cultural offerings by adding a Contemporary Art Museum, in the form of a renovation of the city’s first power plant designed by the world-famous architect Rem Koolhaas.

Lordculture, the European company of Lord Cultural Resources, was commissioned by the Latvian Minister of Culture to help make the project a reality and a success, first by defining an original concept, mission and vision statement for the future institution, then by elaborating operational, business and facility plans. The outcome of Lordculture’s input will be not only an exciting new contemporary art museum, but also the development of the first public-private partnership in the cultural field of Eastern Europe.
