Project Experience
Terra Nova National Park Visitor Centre
The Terra Nova National Park Visitor Centre is an attraction for both residents and tourists alike. The Centre provides visitors with information about ways to discover terrestrial and marine life as well as interpretive activities, a projection room exhibits on natural life in the park and marine touch tanks. Built in 1997, the building is in need of several interior and exterior maintenance repairs and upgrades. In addition to facility upgrades and modernization of exhibit areas and public spaces, Parks Canada aims to create a welcoming, informative and engaging experience within the permanent exhibit areas in order to attract more visitors.
Lord Cultural Resources in collaboration with DSRA was engaged to develop an Interpretive Strategy and Concept Report for the renewed Visitor Centre. Our team toured the Visitor Centre, and held a creative workshop, which included Parks Canada staff and stakeholders. This session highlighted the salience of certain themes, topics and exhibition priorities and characteristics, which formed the basis for the interpretive strategy and concept report.
