Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas, Texas

Open to the public since October 20, 2003, the Nasher Sculpture Center is one of the few institutions in the world devoted to the exhibition, study, and preservation of modern sculpture.  Conceived as a serene urban retreat for the enjoyment of modern art, the Sculpture Center is the new home of the renowned Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection of modern and contemporary sculpture, which they amassed over a lifetime of collecting. The collection rotates in thematic installations throughout the Center’s seamless blend of indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces.  The building, an elegant, light-filled 55,000 square foot building, is a jewel in the center of the Dallas Cultural District, designed by Renzo Piano, with a sculpture garden designed by Peter Walker.

 In 2009, following the appointment of new Director, Jeremy Strick, the Nasher Sculpture Center retained Lord Cultural Resources to help it plan for its future. Through a facilitated strategic planning process that involved personal engagement with every Board and staff member, the Nasher Sculpture Center is on a clear path for growth that will raise its profile internationally and deepen its reach and impact locally. Outcomes of the planning process include a new vision for the future, an action plan with five clear goals and dedicated resources for achieving these goals, and “Nasher-centric” metrics for determining and measuring success.
