Mandela: Struggle for Freedom – Coming to a City Near You
Lord Cultural Resources is proud to announce the North American tour of Mandela: Struggle for Freedom. This one-of-a-kind exhibition on the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela tells a story of racism, oppression, resistance and reconciliation that changed the world forever – and continues to be relevant today. Opening at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR), Lord Cultural Resources will travel the exhibit to venues across Canada and the United States beginning in fall 2019 and running to the end of 2021. Check in often to find out when the exhibition will be in a city near you!
Created by the CMHR, Mandela: Struggle for Freedom takes visitors on a journey from the indignity of apartheid through the struggle that saw its defeat. It is a story of despair and violation, but ultimately one of strength and solidarity in the face of adversity. Rich, mixed-media storytelling and an immersive design that uses artifacts, scenography and props, digital media, and interactive components bring this inspirational story to life. In-gallery programming activities developed for individuals and families are integrated directly into the exhibition design. These activities offer visitors meaningful interactive experiences that augment their museum visit.
Mandela: Struggle for Freedom has proven extremely popular with CMHR visitors, with one-third of visitors coming specifically to see the Mandela exhibition.
The exhibition was developed in collaboration with the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, South Africa. Lord Cultural Resources is proud to be the tour manager for the exhibition, circulating to venues across Canada and the United States.
