Fondée en 864, la Monnaie de Paris est la plus vieille institution française. Elle occupe depuis plus de 200 ans au cœur de la capitale, Quai de Conti, un bâtiment d’exception qui rouvrira ses portes le 25 octobre prochain. Le projet MétaLmorphoses, initié en 2007-2008, a permis de développer une nouvelle politique culturelle invitant le public à explorer les ateliers de la Monnaie de Paris, découvrir les savoir-faire de ses artisans, ses créations mais aussi des expositions temporaires d’art contemporain.

Le 25 octobre prochain marquera le début d’un ambitieux programme, Factory, qui proposera quatre expositions annuelles. Des artistes internationaux seront invités à produire des monographies in situ dans le but d’investir et de dialoguer avec ce site d’exception classé Patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. Au cœur du programme, des artistes seront invités à créer des œuvres dans les ateliers du Quai de Conti et de l’usine de Pessac, dressant un pont entre les techniques séculaires des artisans et la scène artistique contemporaine.

Lordculture est très honoré d’avoir accompagné la Monnaie de Paris depuis 2007. Une équipe multidisciplinaire Lordculture est intervenue tant sur la définition du concept des futurs espaces et la définition du business plan, le recrutement, que sur la réalisation du programme muséographique et architectural et le suivi du chantier de réalisation.

Reopening of the Paris Mint

Founded in 864 A.D., the Paris Mint is the Oldest French institution. For more than 200 years, it has been located in the heart of the French capital, Quai de Conti, in a magnificent building which will reopen its doors on October the 25th. The MétaLmorphoses project, initiated in 2007-2008, aims to develop a new cultural destination inviting the public to an exploration of the Paris mint workshops and a discovery of its craftsmen know-how and creations as well as contemporary art exhibitions.

Starting in October, a new ambitious program of four exhibitions per year, Factory, will link the contemporary art scene with the oldest active manufacture in France. International artists are invited to produce monographic projects on site with the aim of establishing a dialogue between contemporary art and this historical UNESCO world heritage site. At the centre of this new cultural activity, a contemporary artist will be invited to create an art work within the Quai de Conti workshops and the Pessac factory, building a bridge between the unique secular know-how of the craftsmen and leading personalities of contemporary art.

Lordculture is deeply honoured to be working with the Paris Mint since 2007. A multi-disciplinary Lordculture team helped the Paris Mint to develop the concept and the business plan. We also provided the exhibitions spaces program and interpretive plan and assisted the team during the design development.
