Project Experience
Bobby Orr Hall of Fame
One of the greatest defensemen in history, Orr is a product of Parry Sound, a small town along the shores of Georgian Bay. After winning numerous individual awards and two Stanley Cups, Orr retired as a player in 1978 and went on to serve as a player agent and in numerous charitable ventures.
Although he left Parry Sound many years ago, it was there that Orr absorbed the values that his life and career represents: community, loyalty, service to others and dedication to excellence in his craft. Along with these core values, there is a sense of community and fellowship that makes Parry Sound a special place and is reflected in the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame, which opened in 2003.
All museums and related attractions require refreshed exhibitions and experiences from time to time, and in 2022 the Town of Parry Sound and the staff and management of the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame initiated a process to re-vision and reinvigorate those at the Hall. The Town contracted Lord Cultural Resources as part of a team led by Kubik Maltbie in association with WeatherstonBruer Associates to conduct the work beginning in March 2022. Our work included interpretive planning to develop the main themes, communication messages, key stories, and potential means of expression for each exhibit. We also engaged in content development for the exhibitions, which with the interpretive plan provided the basis for schematic and detailed design.
The new museum exhibition opened on July 19, 2023.
