Project Experience
Idaho State Museum
Lord Cultural Resources was engaged by the Idaho State Historical Society to prepare a business plan and projections for the Idaho State Museum in the context of its revitalization and reopening. The recommendations were focused largely on the main museum but also included recommendations for other sites including the Old State Prison Museum. The report sets out 46 recommendations/assumptions intended to help increase attendance and revenues and to control operating costs. It concluded with projections of attendance, operating revenues and expenses based on contextual, comparables and market analyses, site tours, workshops and interviews in Boise, and the judgment and experience of the consultants. As part of a testimonial letter about the work of Lord Cultural Resources, the Executive Director said:
“Your comprehensive approach to our Business Plan is much appreciated and your knowledge of industry benchmarks and skills in comparative analysis has created validity for our future budget requests…. I appreciate your professionalism and positive, collegial demeanor in all of your interactions with our staff, state colleagues, community leaders and Board of Trustees.”
