Saudi Arabian National Museum & Darat Al Malik Abd Al Aziz
Following an extensive international architectural competition, a team led by Lord Cultural Resources was selected to develop the concept and provide exhibition planning, design and museology services for the dazzling new Saudi Arabian National Museum and the adjacent Darat al Malik Abd al Aziz historic palace complex in Riyadh, working closely with architects Ray Moriyama of Canada and Rasem Badran of Jordan.
Our client, the Arriyadh Development Authority, was so pleased with our work on the concept planning for the new institution, as well as our supervision of the exhibition design by Reich & Petch Design International, that they further commissioned our firm to provide project management services, coordinating an international team of exhibition fabrication and show production professionals through to opening day. The Museum and the Darat complex opened in January 1999 as a key feature of the Centenary Celebrations for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and has now become established as a major new national attraction in Riyadh.
In its September 2007 edition, The Lonely Planet calls the Museum “without question one of the best museums in the Middle East.”
